West Shoreway access granted

West side commuters are on the road again.

The Shoreway is now open after two long weeks of being closed.

Drivers had an array of things to say about the recent traffic chaos.

"I'm glad it's finally open"

"It was a fiasco."

"C'mon lets step it up and not be complainers."

The busy route was closed to film the movie Captain America.

East 9th to the Lake Avenue was shut down from May 30 to June 14.

Thinking back over the past two weeks, one driver was not happy, "All the people in Lakewood and Bay Village ... inconvenience for them."

Not only was it a longer commute - there was no driving to the popular Edge Water Park-- which was crowded the first day the Shoreway reopened.

Some 36,000 vehicles used the Shoreway every day.

Drivers spoke of the high cost of fuel that they were forced to pay due to taking alternate routes.

When the Shoreway closed-- traffic at times stood still.

Everyone would agree that when it was shut, things became complicated and congested.

Who was to blame?

Was it worth it?

While the movie is still being filmed, at least five roads in and around downtown Cleveland are slated for closure.
