Suspect in hit-skip in Perry has surrendered to police

PERRY TOWNSHIP, OH (WOIO) -

The Lake County Sheriff said that the suspect in a hit-skip that injured a motorcyclist surrendered to police Saturday.

The accident happened Friday just before 7 p.m. in Perry Township.

Deputies say a 59-year-old Painesville resident was driving a motorcycle on SR 84, and as the driver was waiting to turn left onto Madison Avenue, a black SUV entered the intersection from Vrooman Road, running the red light and striking the motorcyclist.

The Painesville resident was ejected from the motorcycle.

Deputies said at the time of the accident, the driver of the SUV slowed down for a moment, then fled.

No other information has been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
