We're in the summertime pattern now of having daytime heating set in, and pop-up storms rolling through soon after. Through mid-morning today, not a whole lot of activity is expected except for a few isolated mountain showers, generally along the border of Tennessee. After lunchtime, the heat and humidity should be enough for convection to build, and storms should start to move through the area. The SPC has us in an area of risk for thunderstorms, so expect some downpours and the potential for cloud to ground lightning. We're also in a slight risk area for wind damage, as isolated gusts could come with the storms. A small chance for hail sits over our area as well. These threats will be more significant in the mountain areas, as you can see from the attached SPC images our counties up there sit closer to the actual labeled risk area for severe storms. Much like Tuesday, a few storms could last into the early evening.
