The Indians 4-0 shutout of the Chicago White Sox Sunday, coupled with a Detroit loss to Tampa Bay, has earned the Tribe a share of first place. Cleveland pulled off their first four game sweep of the Sox since 1995.
Justin Masterson went the distance, he needed 113 pitches to do it. The right hander gave up six hits and one walk, he struck out eight.
The defense was just as good as Masterson, they recorded four double plays, two of them of the 5-4-3 variety. On offense the Tribe obtained the lead in the bottom of the 4th with back to back two-out hits by Ryan Raburn and Carlos Santana.
Chris Sale of the White Sox took the loss while going eight innings and striking out 10.
The Indians have Monday off and return to action Tuesday as they take on the Royals in Kansas City to start a three game series.
