Big changes are coming to the Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted.

Shopping is expanding and a 50,000 square foot movie theater with 10 screens is going in.

"Our customers for years have been asking us to bring movies back to the community. So anytime we can answer the community's need directly is a fantastic feeling," said Annie Dorsey, Westfield Great Northern Marketing Director.

"I think I'm just going to go see movies more often now. Now that it's closer, it's going to be nice. I like it," said Shane Milhoan.

The plans were revealed during a city council meeting held on Tuesday evening.

In addition to the movie theater, there will be several new stores, including restaurants and a salon.

Local leaders say the new businesses will bring in new customers and generate revenue for the entire area.

"We have a giant auto mile where people come from all over, even out of state to buy their vehicles so adding this will again keep these people in town. Stay at a hotel. Go out to dinner. Catch a movie. It's going to be very big for the residents of North Olmsted," said Kevin Kennedy, North Olmsted Mayor.

The new theater and the new businesses here are scheduled to open December 13, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
