At this time, the girl's condition or what triggered this attack is unknown. But, 19 Action News can confirm the American Bulldog who attacked the child is leaving a bloody scene behind.

Neighbor Janice Woodward was the first to see the girl after the incident happened and she said,  "She [the little girl] was bloody and he pulled her hair out in the driveway.  Patches of blood.  She was just bloody.  I know the ear was probably severed."

Woodward describing the attack to 19 Action News Reporter George Smith said,  "And the dog was on the little girl.  He had her pinned up against the front banister and he just grabbed her. Pulling her, tugging on her ear and her head and stuff.  And they were hollering and screaming."

Police and Cleveland Animal Control responded to the scene after 4 p.m. and the dog was taken away.

"He never barked or ran up to anybody. So, he didn't seem to be aggressive at all.  So, I was wondering what happened to this dog that made him attack the little girl," Woodward said.

An ambulance took the little girl to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Wooward said she spoke to the father as he rushed off to the hospital.  "I just talked to him and asked him how his daughter was doing, was she going to be OK? And he said he didn't know.  It didn't look good."

Neighbors also told us the dog was normally calm and always listened to instructions.

Again, still no update on the little girl's condition.  But, we know her injuries are severe.
