Police: Triple stabbing suspect intentionally walked into traffic

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

Three people were stabbed in Mayfield Heights early Monday morning.

According to police, a person screaming for help from an apartment complex on Goldengate Boulevard called 911 around 5 a.m.

Officers found three victims with apparent stab wounds upon arrival. The victims were rushed to Hillcrest Hospital. No word on conditions at this time.

19 Action News has learned one victim identified the suspect as her ex-boyfriend.

A short time later, the suspect's unoccupied vehicle was found in a parking lot on Harper Road in Solon.

While canine units from Solon and surrounding agencies started a search around the vehicle, the suspect apparently intentionally ran in front of traffic on Route 422 and was struck by a box truck.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment and remains under guard.

Westbound Route 422 between SOM Center Road and Harper Road was closed for around three hours while the accident investigation officers were on scene. The freeway reopened to traffic at 10:45 a.m.

The investigation continues.
