AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron Firefighters confirm that they are on scene dealing with bricks that fell from the upper facade of a building located on North Main Street, just south of East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue.
The structure was slated for repairs before the collapse.
The building houses a tattoo shop, a cell phone business, a barber shop and a tax preparation business along the ground floor and residences on upper floors. The original structure dates to 1908. It was slated to close this week for repairs to the facade, tenants said.
There were no reports of injuries. Police and firefighter closed North Main Street at the East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue intersection until the building was secured.
