HINCKLEY, OH (WOIO) - The Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure is coming up later this month.
Today, we're introducing you to a young mom, who had the shock of her life.
Tiffany Baumann, a former beauty queen, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer last year at the age of 35.
She had no family history of cancer.
'Tiffany, this is the doctor's office we have the results of your test and we're going to want to see you and your family right away and at that point I'm like so this is how it is, so this is how it happens,' explained Baumann about learning she had cancer.
It was breast cancer, that spread to her lymph nodes, stage 3. A double mastectomy and chemo was brutal, with major complications and suddenly life took on a new focus.
"I've kind of turned the chapter from model, actress, performer and singer and kind of turned it over to the mothering aspect of it," said Baumann.
Still beautiful, inside and out, Tiffany went about battling cancer, while reassuring her young kids, four and six at the time.
She said her daughter asked, "are you going to die, then you're just like, you're just hurt in the heart you don't know what to say, but of course my answer was no absolutely not."
Baumann is cancer free and dedicated to working with Susan G. Komen for the cure. She's hopeful that her children will grow up, and someday see a cure.
