Construction is now underway on a pedestrian walkway connecting Horseshoe Casino Cleveland to its dedicated parking structure, Collection Auto Group Centre. When complete, it will provide another convenient option for guests to enter the casino downtown.
"More than anything it's a convenience its an additive isn't not a replacement of the pedestrian traffic that is happening today," said Horseshoe Casino GM Marcus Glover.
The pedestrian walkway will span 175 feet diagonally across the Ontario Street and Prospect Avenue intersection in downtown Cleveland, and will enable guests to conveniently cross from the casino's valet and self-parking Collection Auto Group Centre to the second floor of the casino.
The walkway will sit 16 ft., 6 in. above street level, a height approved by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Guest lobbies will greet guests on both sides of the walkway, providing amenities such as coat check and scooter and wheelchair rental.
Construction will continue through the fall and the walkway is projected to open in early 2014. When complete, the walkway will be enclosed with a sleek, glass façade facilitating street and cityscape views from both the walkway and the street.
"The walkway answers the call of our guests, who have requested a more convenient way to access the casino without crossing busy streets or braving harsh weather," said Marcus Glover, senior vice president and general manager of Horseshoe Cleveland.
During construction, temporary road and sidewalk closures will occur but the construction team is working closely with the City of Cleveland to ensure minimal disruption. To the extent possible, unnecessary disruptions during downtown events, including game days, will be avoided.
Complimentary guest shuttles will continue to transport Horseshoe guests between the Collection Auto Group Centre parking structure and the casino during construction.
