A Heinen's grocery store is set to open in downtown Cleveland next Fall.
The store would occupy the first two floors of the historic old Cleveland AmTrust building at the corner of East 9th and Euclid.
Tom Heinen walked into the rotunda of the old Cleveland AmTrust building where his grandfather was a banker more than a hundred years ago. He has come full circle now that he is opening grocery store where his grandfather once worked.
"My brother Jeff and I own the company and we are very excited to be located in downtown," said Heinen.
The growing downtown population is estimated at nearly 12,000 people.
The new location would depend largely on pedestrians because of the lack of parking.
"Downtown Cleveland has had a need for something like that for a very long time. I see a lot of foot traffic and I see that as being a very successful venture," said Heinen.
