Man accused of killing WWII veteran held on $5M bond

CANTON, OH (WOIO) - The man accused of murdering a World War II veteran in Canton is being held on a $5 million bond.

Chester Ray Crank will be arraigned on aggravated murder and aggravated burglary charges on Friday morning.

Crank, 33, was arrested on Wednesday.

Bennie Angelo, 87, was shot to death in his own home on Endrow Avenue in January of 2007. The killer than set the house on fire. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set to conceal the crime.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and further charges or arrests may be pending in this case.
