Scott Kazmir threw seven shut out innings to lead the Indians to a 4-1 victory over Houston. Kazmir allowed only four hits and a walk, striking out 10 and running his record to 9-9 on the year.
Michael Brantley slugged a two-run homer in the first inning as Cleveland scored three times in the opening frame.
The Indians will play for the four-game sweep on Sunday. Corey Kluber will oppose Erik Bedard.
Tampa Bay defeated Baltimore, so the Tribe remains a half-game back of the Rays for the top Wild Card spot. They still hold the second Wild Card position.
