BLOOMDALE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

ElmwoodSchool officials have been crunching the numbers and say things are not lookinggood. If voters decide to say no to an upcoming levy, district jobs may be onthe line.

Theschool is asking for a renewal of a half percent, and a three-quarter percentincome tax levy. The levies will generate $1.6 million. This time around, officials are trying a more aggressive campaign, but they say they don't havemuch money to do it.

"Ihave to do the mailings, the yard signs," said Superintendent Tony Borton. "Luckilyfor us, we have old yard signs we're re-using. I have to do all of that for 500bucks. One mailing is going to cost all of that."

Thesuperintendent says it's hard to tell which way people will vote.

"Youstill gotta wonder what's out there in the community," Borton said. "The fearof taxes is pretty strong right now across Ohio."

Hesays he's hoping that fear doesn't scare people into voting against the levies, which are responsible for 14 percent of the district's income. Borton says that'smoney they can't do without.

"Thegood thing for us is they're still on the books through all of 2014, so we'vegot some time, but we don't want to get to crunch time," he said.
