Berea, OH (WOIO) - While Jason Campbell goes through the NFL's concussion protocol this week, Brandon Weeden will prepare to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, head coach Rob Chudzinski said on Monday.
Campbell, who was knocked out of Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a hit to the head by William Gay midway through the third quarter, has not been ruled out of the Jaguars game, but it's likely Weeden will get the start, marking the third time he's returned to lead the team this season.
Weeden was greeted by boo's when he took the field in relief of Campbell on Sunday, and Chudzinski was asked on Monday if the organization understands how much of a lightning rod the former first-round pick has become.
"At the end of the day, he's on our team", Chudzinski said. "Brandon did some good things. He's our second-string quarterback right now, and we'll see if Jason's out."
