LAKE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

All lanes of I-90 eastbound are now open east of Vrooman Road following an accident in Leroy.

ODOT crews have cleared the snow and anything that would obstruct traffic flow.

Officers have confirmed that there were 28 cars involved in a pile up which resulted in eight people needing medical attention.

A Cleveland Clinic doctor just so happened to be there to lend a hand in the emergency situation.  He got out of his vehicle and started his own triage along I-90.

"We were lucky we could help initially with the triage. most people were stable there was nobody unstable. We had to send a few people to the hospital," says Dr. Shawn Mazloon.

The snowy bumper car pile up was described as a chain reaction which caused a back up that went on for miles.
