Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Clinic partnership ending Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Clinic partnership ending

After nearly 40 years the partnership between the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Clinic is ending soon.

Both partners tell 19 Action News they are putting the Browns' players health first.

Cleveland Clinic released this statement about the split:

"Cleveland Clinic has been extraordinarily proud to support the Cleveland Browns over the years and to serve as its medical team and hospital provider since 1976. In this current healthcare environment and historical transformation, Cleveland Clinic is focused on providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable care to our patients. With this, comes a responsibility to be good stewards of our resources and focus those on our employees and patients first."

This statement was released from Zak Gillbert from the Browns:

"The Browns have had a positive relationship with Cleveland Clinic for many years. With the end of the current agreement approaching, we're in the process of evaluating and discussing this relationship. Our players' health and safety has been and will continue to be the utmost priority for us. To be consistent with club policy, we aren't able to comment on negotiations."

University Hospitals cannot confirm any partnership with the Browns for next season have been made yet.  They released this statement about the split:

"University Hospitals declines to say whether they are in negotiations with the Cleveland Browns. From time to time, UH explores opportunities with different organizations - including Cleveland sports teams - but will not confirm at this time that we are in talks."
