Cleveland (WOIO) - While reports surfaced that Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops is now out of the mix, and while Auburn Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn was busy prepping his team for Monday night's national title game against Florida State, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels confirmed he did meet with the Browns on Saturday.
"We met and that's about all there is at this point. Nothing, nothing further", McDaniels told the New England media during a conference call on Monday.
"I appreciate the question and I understand it. I know that's something that comes up each time this year for other coaches. The opportunities are certainly flattering if they come up. That being said, I am going to try to keep my focus on the Colts and our preparation this week. Like I've said in the past, I'm fortunate to have the job I have and I love being here. I love doing what I'm doing. Each opportunity that comes along is a little different and I'm going to leave it at that and continue to put my effort and attention into the Colts this week."
McDaniels, a Barberton native and John Carroll graduate, was the head coach of the Denver Broncos before being fired 12 games into his second season in 2010. He served as the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator in 2011 before returning to the Patriots in 2012.
