Another Brunswick High School student has apparently committed suicide.

This is the second suicide of a Brunswick student in two weeks.

Officials say the 17-year-old boy was found dead in the backyard of a home on Alda Parkway.

His body was found around 11:20 am.

Police say the teen was found hanged and foul play is not suspected.

His name is not yet being released.

Last week, the Medina County Sheriff's office handled the suicide of another Brunswick High School student.

Brunswick City Schools posted the following condolence on their Facebook page:

On behalf of Brunswick City School District, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of Mathew and Anthony.

It goes without saying that we are not at liberty to discuss specific details, nor do we have them. Matthew and Anthony were members of our community. Our hearts go out to their families, friends and loved ones.

When something like this happens, we need to ensure that our schools and community know that we are here to help them, and have the information and help they need to cope.

  1. To help our students, our staff, and our community through this difficult process, we have enlisted the help of specialists to provide counseling, support, and information. They will continue to be available to support our students through this.
  2. This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions from our entire community, especially our students. If you just need to talk or are having trouble coping, please call Prevention Specialists, Debra Marshall or Kathy Fulkerson; your child's school psychologist or guidance counselor; or the district number 330-325-7731 and ask for an individual by name.

This is a great tragedy for our school district. As a community, all we can do is share our grief, offer hope and prayers, and support each other.
