Police are investigating the murder of a Cleveland Clinic worker.

Stephen Halton, Jr., an anesthesia tech, was shot and killed at a bus stop in the 15300 block of Lake Shore Avenue in Cleveland early Saturday morning.

"We will not allow this to happen," said community member Elenor Patterson. "We've been here all our lives."

Halton was on his way to work - called in for a liver transplant - for what would have been one of his last shifts as an anesthesia tech.

According to co-workers, Halton was moving on to an IT job with the Clinic, a job he has worked towards for a long time. It was his dream job.

Cleveland Police Commander Wayne Drummond say robberies are rampant in the area. Three of them that they know of on Saturday, after Halton was gunned down.

Now they have five young teens 15, 16, 17 years old ID'd in those crimes. He believes they may know more about Halton's murder.

"I'm not saying we have this homicide figured out but there is some relation here. Now it's going to take good police work and hopefully someone who saw or heard something to give us more information," said Commander Drummond.

Co-workers add Halton was well-loved by everyone.
