Cleveland (WOIO) - The Indians signed Marc Rzepczynski to a one-year contract Friday, avoiding arbitration with the left-handed reliever, but four other players are still arbitration-eligible, including Justin Masterson, Vinnie Pestano, Josh Tomlin and Michael Brantley.
Arbitration hearings are scheduled to begin Feb. 1 in Florida. The Indians have not been to arbitration since 1991.
Rzepczynski came to Cleveland in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals on July 30, and in 27 appearances had a 0.89 ERA. He was especially tough against lefties, who went 5-for-39 against him.
