Cleveland (WOIO) - It was quite the roller coaster ride for the Cavaliers on Monday, as they stormed back from 22 down at the half in their matinee against the Dallas Mavericks, pulled within two in the fourth quarter, and then watched their final chance to tie slip away when they failed to inbound the ball with :02 left. The Mavericks added two free throws and escaped town with a 102-97 win.
The Cavs trailed by as many as 24 in the second quarter, before slowly starting their comeback in the third, but it was in the fourth when they made their move, going on a 16-2 run.
Kyrie Irving led all scorers with a game-high 26 points, along with nine assists, while Luol Deng went for 20 points. Tristan Thompson added 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Andy Varejao went for 18 and 21.
Monta Ellis led the Maverick with 22.
The Cavaliers reach the midway mark of the season with a 15-26 record.
