AVON LAKE, OH (WOIO) - 19 Action News Investigative Reporter Scott Taylor has learned Ford wants to lay off half of the work force at the Ohio Assembly Plant. This would be a total of 900 employees by August 2014.
Retirements, attrition and worker moves or transfers may ease the burden.
The smaller work staff will go into effect after the Avon Lake Ford Motor Company plant shuts down for a few weeks this summer, to retool for their new product line of medium duty trucks.
The plant generated an income tax revenue of $1.8 million last year.
