PERRY, OH (WOIO) - A radioactive leak was found on Jan. 20 by employees at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. After testing around the site, one well showed an elevated level tritium in the groundwater.
Officials at the power plant tell 19 Action News that the leak has been stopped and they are not seeing the elevated levels further on in the draining system. Officials also added nothing has left the power plant site.
The power plant was notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the State of Ohio and will continue to test and monitor the situation.
