WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - Kmart's parent company Sears Holdings confirmed Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Detroit Road Kmart will close in late April.
The lease isn't being renewed.
Liquidation will begin on Feb. 9.
According to company spokesman, Howard Reifs, the company is making a move to reduce expenses and accelerate a changing business model.
The store has nearly 60 part-time, hourly employees.
Many will receive severance pay and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Sears and Kmart stores.
Sears Holdings has nearly 2,500 retail stores in the United States and Canada.
