32 pounds of marijuana seized on the Ohio Turnpike

On Wednesday, January 22, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 32 pounds of marijuana, worth close to $144,000 following a traffic stop in Lorain County.

The driver of the 1996 Mercedes was pulled over on the Ohio Turnpike when he failed to use his blinker before switching lanes.

The incident happened near milepost 135, at 4:34 p.m..

After being stopped, the driver’s suspicious behavior led to troopers using a drug-sniffing canine, who uncovered 32 pounds of marijuana hidden in the vehicle's trunk.

The man arrested, 44-year-old Jon A. Dangelo, is from Eugene, Oregon.

Dangelo was booked at the Lorain County Jail and charged with aggravated drug trafficking and possession of marijuana, both third-degree felonies.  If convicted, Dangelo could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
