The Cuyahoga County Jail guard who accepted bribes in return for doing favors for prisoners was sentenced on Monday.
Tim Thomas was sentenced to six months in jail and four months of house arrest.
Between Dec. 2012 and Aug. 2013, undercover investigators found that Thomas, 40, received at least $2,000 in cash, plus a used car with a reported value of $500 in return for granting a prisoner special treatment.
He also used his position to delay that prisoner's court-ordered transfer to the state prison system, allowing the prisoner to remain at the county jail.
Thomas pleaded guilty to bribery and falsification on Dec. 23, 2013.
