ASHTABULA, OH (WOIO) -

A mother and son were killed in a triple shooting inside their Ashtabula home.

The shooting happened at the family's duplex on Norman Ave. around 2:00 p.m. Monday.

Police say two men broke down a side door and started shooting.

"It doesn't happen here much. Like I said, we had the drive-by shooting back  in July but other than that there hasn't been any violence. I lived her seven years it's been very quiet," said Erma Sparks.

The first victim, Alexis Mook Colon, 20, died at the scene. His mother, Lydia Colon, 43, was life-flighted to Metro, where she succumbed to her injuries.

A second son, Benny Mook Colon, 23, survived the shooting and is at Metro. No word on his condition.

Ashtabula Police have released no details on the shootings, but say they are still looking for the suspect(s). They also believe robbery was the motive.

A memorial fund has been set up at any First Merit Bank under the name of Mook/Colon/Aviles.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 440-992-7172.
