Bedford: Hit and run driver surrenders to police

BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) - A hit and run driver has surrendered to police in Bedford.

Sandra Auletta, 46, turned herself in at the Bedford Police Department on Monday. Auletta was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. She is now free after posting a personal bond.

Police tell 19 Action News that on Jan. 26, Auletta was following a friend to an automobile accessory shop when she struck a woman at Warrensville Center Road near Elm Street. At the time, Auletta was unsure of what she hit so she went home.

Later that night, Auletta saw the news story on the pedestrian struck in Bedford. Believing she may be responsible, Auletta contacted an attorney and made arrangements to come to the police station.

The female pedestrian is currently at Metro listed in critical but stable condition.
