PARMA, OH (WOIO) - Demolition started on Wednesday morning at the former Macy's store at Parmatown Mall.
The wrecking ball ceremony was a major step towards making the Shoppes at Parma.
Officials tell 19 Action News the mall is being transformed - not just renovated - into a shopping, dining and gathering place for the community and the entire region.
In addition to the demolition of the Macy's store, plans include:
- Construction of new retail buildings and the development of free-standing out lot buildings.
- Major renovations of the mall, the Marc's strip center facade and the adjacent four-story medical building on the property.
- Site improvement that includes asphalt repairs and replacement, new parking lot lighting, landscape islands, landscaping and new bio-retention areas for storm water management.
