(WOIO) - For the first time in the Thad Matt era, his Ohio State basketball team lost to Penn State, dropping a heartbreaker in overtime to the Nittany Lions 71-70.
The loss snapped the Buckeyes 18-game winning streak against the Nittany Lions on the hardwood. Poor shooting and untimely turnovers have continued to doom OSU, who now lost for the fifth time in just six Big Ten Games.
D.J. Newbill had a game-high 25 points, including the winning basket in overtime as he successfully crossed-over Aaron Craft and buried a jumper with just two seconds left on the shotclock.
Laquinton Ross led the way for Ohio State with 16 points. OSU will travel to Wisconsin Saturday at 1.
