United Airlines confirmed it will begin making cuts at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in April. United Airlines says that it has made the decision to "substantially reduce flying from Cleveland." The reduction will be made in one-third increments beginning in April and through June. The airline also announced that 470 employees will be let go. Many United employees said they were blind sided by the news. Mayor Frank Jackson is scheduled to hold a press conference Monday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at City Hall, to discuss Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and air service by United Airlines.
Police are also investigating two deaths in the Cleveland area. East Cleveland police are on the scene at Doan Avenue where a body was found around 10 a.m. this morning. And on the westside, police are investigating a homicide after a 35-year-old woman was found dead inside of her apartment. Police went to the woman's apartment after a family member requested a well-being check. According to police, the victim's body was bruised, but the official cause death of will be determined by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
