VERMILION, OH (WOIO) - A terrifying home invasion for a Vermilion family. It happened shortly after 2 a.m. Monday morning on Parkland Blvd.
Police say a husband and wife were asleep in their bedroom, with their 10-month-old baby sleep in an adjacent bedroom, when the wife was startled by a strange noise.
The husband turned on the bedroom light to find an intruder, identified as Jeffrey G. Knox, 37, crouched down on the floor at the foot of the bed.
The husband kicked Knox and yelled for him to get out of the house. The husband then escorted Knox out of the bedroom and to the side door.
Knox fled, but was tracked down a short time later by police.
According to police Knox entered the victims' unlocked vehicle in the driveway and located a key ring in the car. The keys included a key to the doors of the home. Knox simply let himself inside the front door.
Knox told cops he had been drinking all night at a super bowl party and thought he was at his friend's house.
Knox has been charged with burglary.
