A 19 Action News investigation has uncovered an alarming trend--the number of females murdered has nearly doubled.
With so many reports of women being murdered in the state of Ohio, we looked into how current numbers compare to recent years.  The results were startling.
Cleveland Police say in 2011, just 13% of murder victims were women or juvenile girls.  That's a little more than 1 in 10.
In 2012 and in 2013, the number increased to 22%--almost 1 in 4.
On Saturday, February 1, Erica Stigall was found dead and bruised in an apartment on West 25th St.  The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has not yet ruled her death a homicide, but for now detectives are treating it like one.

Facebook, the social network co-founded by Mark Zuckerberg in a Harvard dorm room, turns 10 Tuesday.
Facebook has 1.2 billion users.
The site has given new meaning to words, for instance: unfriend, tag and poke, to name a few.
About six in 10 users log in every day to share status updates, photos and, of course, "like" things.
By the way, there are 6 billion "likes" per day.
