(WOIO) - ODOT is preparing for the ice and snow event that is likely to bring the area several inches of snow - making for tricky travel.
Crews began pretreating the roads Monday night in preparation for the event. Beginning Tuesday night, ODOT's District 12 will be fully staffed with 80 crews in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties and will continue to work around the clock until the event is over.
With heavy amounts of snow falling, motorists will likely see crews working in tandem with one another. This is when two or more snowplows work together to clear more roadway faster. As always when approaching our plows give them plenty of room to work and never try to maneuver between two plows working in a tandem. Snowplows travel well below the posted speed limit and take up an entire driving lane, so the safest place is always a few hundred feet behind them.
Tuesday night and into the Wednesday rush, drivers should expect that conditions will change mile by mile and minute by minute during their commute. The key to getting to your destination safe and on time is to KNO B4 U GO with a check of ohgo.com.
