A jury has found Ronald Miller, 73, guilty of trying to kill his wife, by rigging the accelerator of her car.

On February 8, 2013, the Richmond Heights man placed a wood "shim" in the accelerator control of his wife's car. The shim prevented her from stopping the vehicle by applying the brakes.

This resulted in the victim crashing her car into a storefront and knocking down two brick pillars at the Hilltop Plaza in Richmond Heights. A DNA sample taken from the wood shim found in the victim's vehicle matched Miller's.

The 64-year-old woman survived the crash and has since filed for divorce.

Miller will be sentenced March 10 by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Steven Gall.
