A Cleveland City Council Committee took up the United cutbacks Wednesday.
Some council members are hoping that with the hub gone, Burke Lakefront could see more development.
The current agreement with Continental Airlines is that Burke Lakefront Airport will not be used for commercial activity. Some council members hope that agreement will go away.
"There's this lack of urgency. It's like well United is pulling out, so be it," says Councilman Michael Polensek.
By June, the number of United flights out of Hopkins will drop from 199 to 72.
