Cuyahoga County now has a new hotline to better ensure area seniors and adults with disabilities can access the services they need.
"In Cuyahoga County, we've worked hard to ensure that seniors and adults with disabilities get the best constituent services we can provide," said Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald. "I am proud to announce this new hotline that will allow residents to place a single phone call and get the information they need for themselves or their loved ones."
After developing a comprehensive plan to consolidate all program functions into one Intake Unit, DSAS formally announced the new constituent services hotline Thursday.
As a result of this effort, anyone seeking assistance will be able to call (216) 420-6700 and receive information about:
· Services available to seniors over the age of 60 and adults with disabilities ages 18 to 59 who are living in private residences;
· Basic resources including benefits, income assistance, housing, and medical care;
· Ways to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation.
"I envisioned a Centralized Intake process for the agency which could facilitate convenience and efficiency. We've already been able serve more clients compared to last year linking critical services and resources to those who need it most," added DSAS Administrator Tracey Mason.
Last year, DSAS served approximately 25,000 clients and helped provide access to services for adult protective services, adult development, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, and transportation while also assisting and identifying imperative community resources such as home repairs, subsidized apartments, and locating Adult Care Homes.
