ROCKY RIVER, OH (WOIO) -

A driver was hurt after an object flew through his windshield on Friday morning.

It happened around 6:50 a.m. on I-90 eastbound between Wooster and Valley View Road in Rocky River.

Mark Mentzer, 49, was struck in the face by a piece of metal. The Oberlin man managed to pull over and call 911 before being taken to Fairview Hospital. No word on his condition at this time, but police tell 19 Action News his injuries are not life threatening.

Police have no reason to believe that someone intentionally threw the metal object at Mentzer's car, due to the lack of snowy footprints on the bridge.

ODOT thoroughly inspected the bridge and determined the metal object did not come off the bridge. Officials believe the metal was road debris that got kicked up by another vehicle.
