MENTOR, OH (WOIO) - A 30-year-old Mentor man is accused of sexually preying on girls through Facebook.

In January, the Mentor Police Department was alerted to a potential sexual predator on Facebook. A 12-year-old girl contacted Detectives after Facebook user "Zeon Zak" asked her for inappropriate pictures of herself.

Detectives contacted the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) in Cuyahoga County for assistance. An investigator posed as a 14-year-old girl and communicated with "Zeon Zak" online. During that conversation, he solicited her for sex.

The investigation identified "Zeon Zak" as Troy P. Slapnicker. The Mentor Police Department and ICAC executed a search warrant on Feb. 11 and arrested Slapnicker.

He was arraigned importuning charges on Feb. 12 in Mentor Municipal Court. His bond was set at $100,000.

Computer equipment seized from Slapnicker's home will be examined. Slapnicker may face additional charges once the results of the examination are known.

Other police agencies around Northeast Ohio have also received calls about the "Zeon Zak" profile sending pornographic material to juveniles and making sexual remarks.

Anyone with information about "Zeon Zak" contacting a child is urged to contact Mentor Police at 440-974-5760.
