This has been a very expensive winter for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Officials tell 19 Action News the problem is the continuous bad weather all around the state.
As of Thursday, ODOT has used 882,369 tons of salt. At this same point last winter, they had only used 497,844 tons of salt.
They have spent $95,149,949 for related costs; including, fuel and overtime for snow and ice removal crews. At this same point last winter, they had only spent $53,435,204.
At this point, ODOT Officials say they are not considering killing any major project, but some street repairs and/or paving may be pushed to next year, to save money.
