2 of GRU's campuses to remain closed Friday

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Georgia Regents University's Summerville and Forest Hills campuses will remain closed Friday.

All buildings on those campuses are without power. Buildings with critical systems have limited emergency power.

Classes and student activities on the Health Sciences campus will resume as normal Friday. Most buildings are open and operational with the exception of the following, which are without power:

  • Cardiovascular outpatient building
  • Finance Trailer
  • Pope Avenue Human Resources offices
  • Pope Avenue ITS trailer
  • Residence 6
  • Wellness Center
Supervisors in the affected buildings should call 706-721-WORK, and employees should coordinate attendance with their supervisors.

We will continue monitoring the weather conditions and additional updates will be provided at www.gru.edu, www.grhealth.org, via social media channels, and by e-mail, as information becomes available.

Employees with questions or concerns should contact their supervisor. And, in the interest of safety, all students and employees are reminded to exercise good judgment and caution while traveling to and from work.

Medical Mutual of Ohio has confirmed that an employee sent 45 emails to the wrong person containing personal information for more than 6,000 of its Medicare Advantage customers.  According to a spokesperson for Med Mutual, based in Cleveland, this was an accident because the employee typed in an incorrect email address and the data was going to a third party that didn't have authorization to be looking at private information.
