(WOIO) - Travel nightmares are being seen up and down the east coast after a major winter storm led to more than 6,000 flights being canceled.
The bad weather conditions have crippled some of the nation's busiest airports.
A foot of snow or more fell in places like Virginia and Maryland.
In Atlanta, roads are still covered with ice and state officials are urging residents to stay home.
The impact is being felt at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport where flights to New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and Charlotte were canceled.
Weary travelers will have to wait until Friday to try to get to their destinations.
