The driver who fatally hit a woman on I-90 last summer was sentenced to six years in prison Friday morning.
Last month, William Nichols, 65, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident.
On July 20, 2013, the victim, Kiara Rodriguez, 19, and two of her friends were driving on I-90 when they got a flat tire.
After pulling off to the shoulder, the victim, who was driving, exited her vehicle after checking to make sure there was no traffic coming.
As soon as Rodriguez exited the car, Nichols fatally struck the victim as he drove by, throwing her body approximately thirty feet and killing her.
Nichols was administered a breathalyzer, with a result of .116.
The courtroom was packed during Friday's sentencing and several of Rodriguez's family members tearfully addressed the courtroom.
