CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (WOIO) - A 22-year-old Rittman man is accused of shooting into his ex-girlfriend's home before turning the gun on himself in Cuyahoga Falls.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Sunday on 23rd Street.
Officers were advised that an ex-boyfriend of one of the residents had come to the house and had shot out a door. Three residents hid in the house while police responded. When officers arrived, they found the back glass door shot out and the suspect, Robert A. Mann, hiding in the basement.
When officers confronted Mann, he shot himself in the head with a 9mm handgun. He was rushed to Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officers found that Mann had an AK47 assault rifle, 9 mm handgun, over 140 rounds of ammunition and numerous cable ties.
Earlier in the night, the Summit County Sheriff's Office put out an alert in reference to the suspect in this case, stating that the suspect had made threats to kill his mother and ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend's name and address were not known until after this call came into dispatch.
