LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - The worker killed at Republic Steel in Lorain has been identified as Frank Johnson, 62, of Brownhelm Township.
19 Action News has learned that Johnson worked as a brakeman.
At the time of the deadly incident on Friday morning, Johnson was holding onto the outside of a traveling train. There was another train sitting idle on the opposing tracks. When one of the trains came around the corner, Johnson was crushed between the moving train and the one sitting idle.
In a statement, Republic Steel officials said Johnson's death was "shocking and tragic news."
