Indians go though first full squad drills

GOODYEAR, AZ (WOIO) - Monday was the first day for full squad workouts, meaning it was also the day Terry Francona addressed the entire team for the first time this year. "I missed these guys, man. I was so happy to be back," said the manager. Francona's speech wasn't spicy, just the basics- how they play the game, being a team, etc. "He usually starts serious and then gets non-serious," said third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall.

It was also the first time the entire team was around to see Carlos Santana take grounders at third base. He held his own. "He did better over there than most catchers would," said Chisenhall, who alternated reps with Santana.

Jason Giambi is back with the team, no surprise since they knew they wanted him back "as soon as last season was over," as Francona put it. The manager said Giambi is "worth his weight in gold."  When I asked Giambi how much he had left in the tank, he told me "we'll see, they'll have to rip it off me."
