19 Action News Investigation: Was murdered woman too forgiving?

We've found that a man facing charges for murdering a woman had attacked the same woman twice before.

Jermodd Anderson will face a county judge this week. Police say he strangled Erica Stigall, and records show he did it while on probation for attacking Stigall. In fact, before that, he'd been to prison for attacking her in another case.

All that, and records show Anderson's address listed as Stigall's apartment. She lived in CMHA housing on West 25 Street.

Stigall's daughter told 19 Action News she had tried to get the couple help.

"I talked to both of them," said Ashanay Jones. "I told them you know its not good somebody -- one of yall need to go and get help or counseling if you all want to be together."

Records show dozens of calls for various kinds of trouble to Stigall's apartment. Hard to find out more though.

CMHA police released reports that were heavily blacked out so that we couldn't see key information.

"What could we have done better...I don't know if there's anything anyone could have done," stated the CMHA chief of Police.
