A local mom is facing more serious charges after leaving a toddler in her van that was stolen with the child inside.
19 Action News Reporter Ed Gallek has learned that the mom, Danielle Weems, just had her case sent to Cuyahoga County Court due to a history of irresponsible behavior.
The latest case goes back to October.
Cleveland Police say late one night Danielle Weems went to her father's home and left her 3-year-old inside her van with the keys in the ignition and the engine still running.
Then someone stole the van with the child inside.
Police found the car with the child a short time later.
Records show that Weems had been convicted of child endangering after she roughed up the then 2-year-old toddler and made the child walk across the street alone.
So the latest case is going from city court to the county prosecutor for felony charges.
