According to multiple reports the Indians have approached second baseman Jason Kipnis about a long term contract.
The 26 year old is not eligible for arbitration until 2015, but will likely be in line for some money when he gets there. In only his second full season in 2013 he slugged 17 home runs and had 84 RBI with a .284 batting average, he finished 11th in the MVP voting.
If the two sides cannot reach an agreement before the season starts, they would likely shelve talks for the year. The Indians do not like to talk contract in-season.
